Thirty years after its founding, RITM has established itself as a center for excellence in health research, utilizing epidemiology, clinical medicine supported by microbiology, parasitology, public health, virology, immunology, molecular biology, pathology and behavioral or social science techniques that are currently available. The research activities of the Institute have been focused on the creation of new diagnostic techniques, and effective and efficient strategies for the control of infectious and/or tropical diseases to be significant to the national health policy and strategy. Its research is published in local and international publications, presented at a variety of scientific meetings, and submitted to health policy-making bodies.
